People get a new washer or dryer when they stop working, but usually they can be repaired fairly easily too. Again, it's usually one of about six things.
I had the cheapo builder grade over-the-stove GE microwave, which lasted about 20 years before the touch panel started going out. I was down to, the button that would work was the 'poporn' button. Replacement control panels were no longer available. I had a local repair shop quote me $ 75 plus tax for a used one, no guarantee, so I just opted to replace.

I was all set to buy a new one (they were about $ 200), when I spotted a used one on Craigslist near me. Less than a year old, similar builder grade GE, only it had the rotating tray and more panel control buttons. The wife wanted stainless appliances, so a virtually brand new microwave had to go.

Best $ 45 I ever spent. And I got rid of the old one on Craigslist listing it in the free section. I clearly stated the thing only worked by pressing the 'popcorn' button, and the girl who came and got it was very happy to get it.

Good experience all the way around.

There isn't any gasket for the magnetron, it bolts down (4 screws) to the metal frame around the wave guide, and then there's more metal that is screwed around the entire interface there, so it's completely shielded. I'll even put the outside cover back on with a couple screws before even plugging it in, although that's probably overkill. If it doesn't work with the new magnetron, I'm probably screwed unless I can find a schematic for this completely discontinued model. I could call Thermadore and see if they'll send me a link to one, there's that option, but I'm sure they would tell me to send it in for service which isn't going to happen.

I'm thinking that Cyber should join the @ Sea Six medical team. Clark does the surgeries, Cyber does the radiation therapy.

New magnetron was supposed to be here today. Just got an update, they have delayed it until the 28th. Probably covid. Isn't everything?

Fed-Ex delivered it a couple hours ago, just before we went out for brunch. Came back and quickly installed the new magnetron, put everything back together, and it works fantastic.

I went through the same thing a couple weeks ago. My right leg has the problem. The tech decided to do both, starting with the left leg. Definitely not fun.
