This subject interests me
Back when I was still in college (40 years ago) I brought this question to my grandpa. Hoped he had some wisdom to share on the matter but walked away wondering why I presumed such a thing when all he's ever known is people making big scientific discoveries. Oh well, at least he'll never know he was mistaken.
Anyhow, interesting video here. I don't however wonder if "We'll be in deep shit" as Sabine frets. We are already in it up to our eyeballs and I'm not afraid to acknowledge this. Don't get too carried away blaming it on complexity. To be sure that is problematic, but not an insurmountable obstacle by my estimation. As long as everything remains documented we simply need smart people to connect the dots someday in the future. I've spent no small amount of time pondering the situation and my postulate for a solution was one she mentioned. That being verification of guessed answers. Put the complexity of the human brain to work solving the complexity of these problems. Just need to find some good guessers (not volunteering by the way). We can forget about the typical scientific method making discoveries to solve the big remaining questions she outlined because science has sold it's soul to the devil of dishonest self-serving politicians. It has picked a side, and it is the wrong side. Observational details are necessarily being overlooked to earn fame, favor, and enrichment. That is contrary to the scientific method. There's no hope for a solution because there's no accountability to the scientific method which should be law unto itself. But hey, a dime is a dime, and only stupid honest/moral people care how money is acquired. Am I right? Oh well, I'd take her to dinner, but she'd have to ask me. Homey don't chase trouble |

Social media is the new science. Very difficult to weed out BS.

Science
" the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation, experimentation, and the testing of theories against the evidence obtained" I think this gal needs to go back to school. And learn to talk and think without the BS. |

This, but I believe the "BS" is meant to be there, social media is the new "news" source...it is being taken as gospel, when it is really paid shills (same as the news media) repeating the same talking points over and over again
