Practice tunes is perfect for hand strength, correct fingering, chord progressions and techniques.
When you become proficient with all your practice tunes; you listen to em and realize there's already a song just like it.

Today is day of joy and jubilation. I am taking my first day of vacation since last Labor Day. Actually I am only taking the afternoon off. But that is at least a start of taking more days off. I am playing golf today with my golf buds. I plan on taking their money and beers.

I bought a music theory 1 textbook from a used bookstore. It got complicated pretty fast. Need an instructor and maybe a classroom for that.

I didn't do music theory, tab, or read music, etc...
I learned the 7 root notes, 7 whole chords, major and minor pentatonic scales, and two barred chords.
When I could play those fairly well after a few months of "time in the chair"(practice), I tried to match every tune on a TV commercials before they ended.
That taught me to play by ear.
That's how I was taught in the beginning.
I progressed to my style, patterns, and signature licks.

Now; I can play anything, at any time, on the spot, and don't need a phone or sheet music to do it.

Will I play it note for note as a copy?
Nope...but it will always be so close that a tiny amount of people at the scene would notice, if any at all.
