Gov got this all wrong
If the intention of the stimulus checks is to get money in to the economy, it seems they should have radically increased the max income that can receive it.
Someone whose income has been impacted by the shutdowns, OR someone still working but not making big enough bucks, is going to use that money to cover a debt or a utility, or stash it, which doesn't do shit for the economy. The group of people that actually don't NEED it, will be the ones that spend it and get it into circulation. Why is there so little logic in these things? |

Fortunately, My wife and I are still working, albeit from home. However, lots of folks can't work right now. If we get a check, it will be stuffed into savings, or partially go towards our spring landscaping budget. We haven't decided because frankly, I am not going to hold my breath on receiving a check.
Do I agree that people in the service industry need it more...**** yes. I know people who are being laid off, and are unable to make ends meet. However, these are able-bodied folks who CAN work if they choose to. I also know folks on the other end of the spectrum who are treating this like a vacation. |
