Private school parents pressured to become BLM activists, NYC dad says.

A New York City father who went viral after pulling his daughter out of The Brearley School after seven years shared new details about the elite school's left-wing culture in a new video interview with Fox News.

Andrew Gutmann shot to national attention after sending former New York Times editor Bari Weiss a scathing letter addressed to Brearley parents, saying the $54,000-a-year institution's "obsession with race must stop."

"Our country doesn't survive not teaching history and civics, and it sure as hell doesn't survive teaching our children to hate their country and their history."

Left-wing activism was the norm at the the school, according to Gutmann, who said family were pressured to "advocate for Black Lives Matter."

Gutmann said his takeaway from the school's messaging was: "We want you, we want your daughter, from kindergarten to 12th grade, we want your family to be an activist."

Gutmann described the pressure to conform as so intense that "if you just stay silent, you’re racist. You have to be an activist for that. If you’re not an activist for an antiracism initiative, for Black Lives Matter, for example, you are racist, you are a bad person, you are an oppressor, you are not doing the right thing."

The school "made it sound like they’re going to integrate this racial curriculum, this anti-racism curriculum, into everything - every class, into math, into gym, P.E., it was shocking that they were taking that degree of integrating it into everything," Gutmann said, describing the issue as "pervasive."

I have a few family members who are teachers. This is happening in many schools in Democratic controlled places. One works in a school that is mainly black students with a black principle. The principle had been pushing white teachers out for a few years and then the black parents revolted becuase the one who replaced them indoctrinated VS teach.

I don't think "we" are trying to "let them", however there's very little if any, feedback "we the people" can get back to the political elite. They've made sure that the communication path is one-way, from them to us.

We can try to vote them out (or in, as the case may be) but too few votes matter, and the overwhelming majorities seem to favor the people/positions that we DON'T (i.e., lefty/Dim).

It doesn't help that our Rep "leadership" has no spine, and not willing to stand up to the lefty/Dim overlords for us. They're just as bad IMO.

Not true in the case of a very expensive private school. If most parents pulled their little precious out and quit paying it would send a STRONG message to the idiots running it.

The teachers union quietly became a major political force for the left. It would be a good start getting back our country if we can somehow break up the teachers union. Wealthy conservatives need to create a nationwide private school system to stop the brainwashing and indoctrination of our children by public schools.

Just watch the video of a teacher call a Latino officer a murderer and you get the picture of who is now brainwashing our youth. This women has been brainwashed to believe in some kind of fantasy world and is now passing on her altered reality to another generation.

Public employee unions are the real problem. We need to revert back to how they operated prior to Kennedy making them legal. They spend money pushing to get elected those who will make them the best deals. We have to revert to only allowing them to bargain collectively. No meddling in politics.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR), a four-term progressive Democrat of the 1930s and 1940s, actually warned about that very danger in a letter he wrote in 1937 to Luther C. Steward, President of the National Federation of Federal Employees:

“The desire of Government employees for fair and adequate pay, reasonable hours of work, safe and suitable working conditions, development of opportunities for advancement, facilities for fair and impartial consideration and review of grievances, and other objectives of a proper employee relations policy, is basically no different from that of employees in private industry. Organization on their part to present their views on such matters is both natural and logical, but meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the Government.

All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public personnel management. The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with Government employee organizations. The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives in Congress. Accordingly, administrative officials and employees alike are governed and guided, and in many instances restricted, by laws which establish policies, procedures, or rules in personnel matters.”
