Not sure why all the hate. In school I learned that Haiti's Slave Rebellion set the stage for freeing of slaves in the US, making them all heroes.

But I noticed they didn't mention in class how the ongoing debt to French Banks for over a century of reperations and interest payments kept the place depressed. Or how Baby Doc had a foot fetish and ordered his enemies tortured and had their feet cutoff. Or how Papa Doc helped drive the Dauphin Plantation out of business by his endlessly increasing money demands, thus destroying the biggest employer in the country.

But heroes. all of them. That's the REAL Haiti. Still heroing today.

Is it me or does it seem like if you are a foreign illegal you can get expedited into the US by grinning NGOs and others but if you are a citizen or an actual ally trying to get back to the US then you're on your own.
