I would like to go back to the 1800's and buy up all the gold I could and bring it back to the present.

All you need to do is melt and mold it.

The year 2912. I'd inject myself with medical nanobots, set my biological age to 23, body fat level to 8%, and with the help of various brain implants, download the knowledge base available to recent time-travelling arrivals. I would then take the grand tour of the currently colonized star systems and after a few centuries set out for parts unknown.

The 1950s golden age myth lives on.

P-E-R-S-P-E-C-T-I-V-E

ANYTHING would seem golden after TWO DECADES OF DEPRESSION AND WORLD WAR.

In reality, the 1950s featured anemic economic growth under the Eisenhower administration (average annual GDP growth under 3%), and ridiculously oppressive taxation as we were still under the thumb of mindless and authoritarian FDR regime policies.

Also people cared about other people as long as they were WHITE and HETEROSEXUAL. 1950s were still not so hot for ANY type of minority. Or women for that matter.

I'd much rather be living TODAY tha in the 1950s, despite our challenges.

Now the 1840s??? I'm down with you there, although I would prefer post civil war late 1800s more, specifically out west. Latest possible life in the so-called "wild west" so I'd have the most modern amenities possible. Hard to imagine there was a time people were TRULY free in this country. No gun permits, no license plates, no bloated federal government on your back. Lots of wide open spaces, and the unadulterated risk and danger of true independence and freedom. I'd take all the bad of back then for a chance to see so much unmolested frontier and the chance to live however I damn well please.

I'd also go back to 1974 and stop my brother from selling his comic collection for 100 big ones. He had the first spiderman, early X-men, first Iron Man... Imagine if we had them now.

Not to change the subject … but America really took off in Technology after the Space Race and the Landing on the Moon.

Back then it was cool to be Innovative, First and Take Chances!

Now … we can’ afford to take any chances because it will add to the deficit!

By the time we pay-off the deficit … the rest the World will be vacationing on other Planets.

I'd like to peep out A.D. 34, the year many theologians believe Jesus began his ministry. It'd be wild to see the many miracles, signs, and wonders he performed.

"Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." - John 20:29

My destination going back in time would definitely depend on whether I were allowed to take a lifetime supply of toilet paper with me or not.

Late '60's. I was there, just too young to enjoy it! Drugs, musclecars, drugs, the sexual revolution, drugs. Did I mention drugs?

I was there...late 60's & 70's...

I'm lucky to have survived it...many I know did not.

I wouldn't want to chance that again. Although, I often think about a good opiate buzz.

Travel in time and live out the rest of my days? Hell, that's easy. I'd go back in time, maybe a year or so. I'd win every lottery and make book on sports betting. It would border on the ridiculous how much money I would make betting knowing the outcome of games, lottery numbers, etc., for the following year.

Why not live now? For those with means, the near present offers the pinnacle of modern civilization, air conditioning, flat screen tv's, latest health care, etc.

Of course, I don't gamble currently, but if I suddenly knew all the right bets, I would be willing to start.

1975- the first year, I believe, for Microsoft.

I'd invest heavily.
