My truck has a fob hidden inside. With the B post keypad and touch and go entry/exit, along with push button start…I don’t need to carry a key at all.

I also leave the truck running a lot at my stops. Step out and press the button and boom…tuck is locked.
Upon return, press the button and I’m in. Truck stays cool. Seats are cool.
Only issue with this scenario is the Bluetooth phone setup. The truck will answer the phone if you’re not there.

Don't complain - some vehicles have "phone as a key" and they either won't unlock your car at all or they will constantly lock and unlock it when you're standing close by.

What peeps "at that other forum" used to say: Buy from Wally's or anyone else who has a big turnover of batteries, making sure you get a fresh one. Not sure how important that is nowadays with expiration dates years out.

Also: They used to say the brand with the hashmarks on the back don't last or don't work or something (with Corvette fobs, anyway). Sounds like more old wive's tales.

Another interesting tip I learned from @owc6 was to not use the fob buttons at all for locking/unlocking, if you have keyless ignition, cuz the fob battery will last a lot longer.

I bought two packs of coin batteries from Amazon that came from some unknown Chinese companies. Many were dead right out of the package. One company was Skoanbe and the other Celewell.

What, exactly, does the fob do? Can you remote start the bike? Isn't the bike in gear when parked? Is it push button start? Is there a trunk release? Does it automatically lock and unlock the fork like a keyed ignition would?

I will say that I dislike the push button start on my Cruze. It's destined to fail, and when it does, it will leave me stranded. I don't think I'd like that feature on any vehicle, especially on a bike.

It's essentially a security system. For example, if you leave the forks and ignition unlocked the bike won't start without the fob.

The bike also has a PIN # you can punch in to the navigation screen should you lose the fob.

My 90 Thunderbird had it. Closest I can get now is the GM phone app. I don't like carrying keys...or much of anything, in my pockets. If I go out, I stash the keys somewhere inside the truck and use the app to lock/unlock the doors. I use it to start the truck too. It works with Alexa so I can use Alexa to do all that as well.
