I had an adventure with that motor fishing in Canada once. Hit an underwater obstruction. Shear pin toasted. As I was sitting there wondering whether to pole my way back or hike I spotted a replacement taped to the throttle. Big relief!

That happened to me one time, one of my dad's crappy boats, and I pulled a nail out of the gunwale and used that as a shear pin.
