Checked your nuts lately?

Axle nuts, that is. If you recall there has been a problem with these nuts coming loose on both the C5 and the C6. A TSB on the problem says to use Locktite and retorque the nuts to a higher value. This may or may not work since the axle is subject to such high dynamic loads and vibration.

When I toured the Corvette factory as part of my museum delivery last month, I was shown a new lock washer that was being used on the ZR1. I just found out the washer is called a Nord-Lock. Read the explaination in the link below on how tension makes the bolt self locking. Pretty neat idea.
