Default When they start dropping like flies..

I’ve got a good friend (60) who beat colon cancer and is now on ventilator for a month after covid and pneumonia diagnosis, docs are ready to let him go. My own brother (65) disabled now after RA has ravaged his major joints , recovering from neck/back reconstruction and awaiting knee surgeries so he can walk again but can’t beat infections that keep popping up. My father in law (71) diagnosed with a brain tumor and deteriorating fairly quickly.

I guess when you live long enough these situations happen but damn…. All 3 of these guys are thoroughly vaxxed. All conservative politically but succumbed to the fear mongering and hard to say how much it contributed to their conditions. My brother spent 4 months in the hospital shortly after his 3rd booster .

Life is precious, live each day like it is your last, take nothing for granted.

Best of hope for your three friends.

I don't consider 60-71 years old to be that old anymore. Seems fairly young. I'm 63 for the record.

I remember in my 20's whenever I was doing something medical or a questionnaire about family medical history, there always seemed to be a question about cancer in the family.

Well, no because aunts and uncles were all in their 50's and fine. Ask me that now and they're all gone from cancer

I met a guy in 1990 and we became lunch buddies, 5-6 days a week since. He is now 89. He had an artery in his leg replaced about 3 years ago, and it was never quite right since (surprise surprise), although he was doing okay. He used a cane for a couple of months then didn't need that anymore.

But he fell in September and his leg got worse and worse over a week or two and he couldn't get out anymore; I haven't seen him since. His wife is still alive and with him but he's stuck home, not sure if he'll ever get better at that age. He's frustrated because the docs don't have any answers for him.

Another lunch buddy that's been with us for about the past 15 years is now out too; he's 83. Legs are screwed up, is retaining water in his feet, etc. etc. He's been home for over a week now. I'm hoping he gets out again but I don't know.

I'm in much better shape than either of those guys, but I have my issues too. Life can suck, especially when you get old. The truest statement you will ever read:

“When you have your health, you have everything. When you do not have your health, nothing else matters at all.” -- Augusten Burroughs

If they have him on Remdesivir, he is in trouble. It shuts your organs down, fills your lungs with fluid and off you go. Sorry to hear.

According to a recent news story the government has not reported a surge in cancer since the vaccine was released. That's the headline...

As if government ignoring the issue means it doesn't exist? Weird, guess that's what passes for liberal logic these days.

Your odds of being diagnosed with cancer are 4/10 if you live in the U.S.
