I carry a gun for many reasons.
Because I have a right to, and I can.
Because I once owned a business in an extremely high crime area.
Because I have been in several stick-ups, more burglaries than I can remember, and a being shot at in a drive-by.
During the six month transisition period of the sale of my business, I also carried an assault rifle to work, with 8 magazines.

In short, I am able to protect my family because, as pointed out, when seconds count, the Police are minutes away.

And I do answer the door with a loaded handgun in an SOB holster.

I had the exact same issue happen to my sister. I resolved it using my one Trigger Finger; I dialed my Lawyer, my lawyer filed a restraining order, and the Court dispatched a County Sherriff, the County Sherriff worked with the Local PD Domestic Violence Unit. I can honestly say, I’ve never met the Dude and I’m more than certain I never will.

Sure, either my sister or I could have employed Guns as a solution; but that would have taken effort.
