In his speech today after receiving the gavel from outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Boehner will call the House the “people’s House,” per NBC’s Luke Russert.

“The American people have humbled us.

They have refreshed our memories as to just how temporary the privilege to serve is,” Boehner will say, according to advanced excerpts of his speech.

“They have reminded us that everything here is on loan from them.

That includes this gavel, which I accept cheerfully and gratefully, knowing I am but its caretaker.

After all, this is the people’s House.
This is their Congress.
It’s about them, not us.

What they want is a government that is honest, accountable and responsive to their needs.

A government that respects individual liberty, honors our heritage, and bows before the public it serves.”

On debt and spending, Boehner will say, per NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell: “No longer can we kick the can down the road.

The people voted to end business as usual, and today we begin carrying out their instructions."

the Pubes will throw a big party & invite all the banksters & shysters. Boehner will get up & make a toast & say "ok, boys. we have control....what do ya'll want?" then we will endure two more years of sliding into the abyss.

and yes, as a matter of fact they DO meet on the golf courses.....

Greenbrier, Homestead, Lakewood (my father a founding member), Kenwood, Chevy Chase, Congressional (where a buddy blew out the plate glass window with a bunch of senators in attendance at some party or other, about 50 years ago, got 'reform skool' for it.......

so Yes, they DOOO meet on the links, where time and open space and security mean they do deal with shake of the hand....back to the office and write it up.....

Lets see the pay as you go under Pelosi has resulted in our deficit going from 9 trillion (already to much) to 14 trillion in 4 years of leadership, the only pay go see knows is deficit spending, time to get this under control and get the books in order and it will be painful, I hope more successful than the 800 billion stimilus that was to keep unemployment under 8%, we know that was all smoke an mirrors with the 9.8% we have at the moment.
