First, NBC would not agree to on-screen fact checks, but there will be fact checkers who can relay the info to Lester Holt, the moderator. This is because:

“This is the role of the moderator … to call out those lies, and do it in real time,” Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri told reporters on a conference call. “To not do that is to give Donald Trump a very unfair advantage. Any candidate who tells this many lies clearly can’t win the debate on the merits.”

“His level of lying is unprecedented in American politics,” Palmieri said of Trump.

Second, Hillary is 5'4" tall, and Trump is 6'2". Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will use a larger podium than Donald Trump at Monday’s presidential debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. to make up for the height disparity between the two candidates.

According to The Drudge Report, the Clinton camp had originally asked a stool for Clinton to stand on. Now, it appears Clinton instead was granted a raised podium.



Why does her podium appear to have a device inserted that’s not present in her rival’s? It is likely a device which could deliver medications to her so that she can avoid long bathroom breaks, which served her poorly in prior debates. In one of her previous debates with Senator Bernie Sanders, Clinton famously vanished for over 20 minutes on what was called a “bathroom” break. Later in the debate schedule, she refused to do the last debate in what many say was due to medical issues associated with her staying unattended so long. The DNC realizes Trump won’t be shy in calling out any unordinary behavior on the part of Hillary, so they need to keep her standing for as long as humanly possible. Being able to remotely deliver meds at the first sign of trouble would do exactly that.

I think they should have some VH-1 style pop up "factoids" appear periodically.

Of course, considering it's going to be on NBC, those factoids would probably be:

Donald, in his spare time, enjoys eating kittens, with a side of fava beans and a nice chianti.

Hillary once stopped a motorcade to save a butterfly that was caught in a spider web.

I think the moderator should check for ear-pieces. Trump won't ask for Hillary to be checked in case he's wrong.

If you're under intense sniper fire and you get out alive, either the sniper truly sucks or you're lying. Intense sniper fire simply means an extra breath before pulling the trigger on the one bullet from nearly a mile away to take out the target.

The politician "won" the debate. She was able to talk without saying anything of subsistence. She was able to make unicorns and butterflies out of the world today. The only topic she actually had an answer for is to retrain the police force in community relations. I'm sure all the cops are glad to hear that all of today's race problems are strictly their fault.

After hearing Hillary's description of the inner cities, a lot of those residents are feeling pretty stupid right about now for buying burglar bars and alarm systems. In Houston, people even buy cages to lock their air conditioners up in so they don't get stolen or destroyed by copper thieves. That was a good exchange for the Donald, because inner city residents merely need to open their doors and look out to see he is right. The only inner city folks that could disagree with Donald's law and order message are the various and sundry criminals preying on their neighbors.

What you witnessed last night is the part of the movie where the villain cheats and wins. Nobody who watched that debate will remember who said what a week from now, but they know that Trump was shit all over by the moderator and Hillary's eyes never conveyed the fake and frankly creepy smile she had all night. So Trump came off as presidential enough, didn't go nuclear on Hillary with all sorts of stuff (like Bill's sexual history, flying around on the Lolita Express, etc), so he's not the scary person the media tries to sell.

And people love movies where the villain gets their comeuppance at the end.
