Default Pickup prices....

Vans too....

Can you guys look around your areas to find what the typical prices are on used vans/trucks at your local lots??

I name two vehicles we have priced here locally 2013 Toy Takoma 4 cyl auto nothing fancy, clean, white/gra int....56k miles topper they wanting 14 grand for it.....

next is a 2013 Chebby van V6, 90k miles asking 19 grand for it,

manual windows , auto trans, good a/c auto trans, on both....

I think the prices are stupid high for 6 y/o work trucks....

I forget what mfgr, but one of the sales idiots tried to tell me one of the examples had a FIVE cylinder engine in it.....I just laughed.....

Tacoma's have one of the highest, if not THE highest resale values of any vehicles on the road. The asking price for the one you are looking at is not out of line. That said, I would imagine the asking prices for Tacoma's are actually higher out here than they are back there.

Base price on a new Taco is about 25k fyi.

GM used a five cylinder in some of the Light Trucks/SUV's, not sure about vans though. Not sure which models specifically. My neighbor has a Hummer with the 5 Cylinder.

They used them in the Trailblazer starting in '02, I believe. Maybe the Colorado also.

Local dealer here has THIS 2013 Tacoma; less miles, more $$ than the one you mentioned.

Correct on both counts and the Hummer must be an H3, based on the Colorado.

Just looked at craigslist up here and the average price was up around the $20K mark. Sounds like that Tacoma near you is a bargain!

Some old Volvos and Audis used a 5 banger too.

Always seemed like an odd configuration to me as well although an inline 5 would have worked fairly well if space was an issue.

I never understood the appeal of the Tacoma...I always thought the materials looked cheap compared to GM...I know people are crazy about them. I just don't understand why though.

Size, economy, reliability, but as a work vehicle, I think ALL pickups suck, unless you doing outdoor work like foundations, forestry, earth moving, etc.....indoor work, tons of small shit from lectric to plumbing/etc.....VANS are the way to fly.....

Buddy has a GMC Canyon, granted it's a bit older than my Taco, but that thing is falling apart. My Taco still looks new.

Granted, I take better care of my vehicles than he does, but still. It's a pile.

Semi-related:

I have been watching Tahoe/Suburban prices for about a year or more and they have been flat the entire time. Then the local news did a story about a week ago on increased used car prices. This weekend I am looking and everything seems to have gone up by about $1,000.00. I think the news story is the CAUSE, not the reporting of, the phenomenon.

As Simpleman said, Audi's used the straight 5 cyclinder engines.
My father-in-law had that engine in his '86 Audi 5000.
Smooth running car, plenty of power. Expensive to fix anything on it,
but a lot of the parts were VW branded (Germany imports), hence the high price
for parts alone.

A guy I work with just bought a new four door Silverado 2500. He gave a small fortune, over $65K, for it and all I could do was congratulate him. He's bitching about the fuel cost and milage he's getting. I didn't want to hurt his feelings by saying my Vette gets double the fuel mileage his truck gets.
These new trucks are getting out of hand, price wise. Guess I'll just keep my old, bought used and cheap, '04 Silverado.

I guess Ford is on to something, switching to just making pick-ups and eliminating mid-sided cars.
As a caveat... I hate all of the pick-ups on the road. They're nothing but road blocks.

NE Florida got more road blocks than cinder blocks....AND most of the drivers have the brains of cinder blocks....REAL block heads.....
