If your in Massachusetts, a must read, but this BS might spread everywhere else.

John Deere and farmers have already been through this battle. It's not a good look for the manufacturers, I'll say that.

I would imagine the Rockefeller family would WANT independent repair shops, because that makes car ownership less expensive, furthering gasoline sales.....
I would THINK they have enough influence to kill that kind of stoooooopidity.... |

I may have a bad case of the dumb. What does this mean?
I read it as either an "app" or a "pc" choice. A “yes” vote supports requiring manufacturers that sell vehicles with telematics systems in Massachusetts to equip them with a standardized open data platform beginning with model year 2022 that vehicle owners and independent repair facilities may access to retrieve mechanical data and run diagnostics through a mobile-based application. A “no” vote opposes requiring vehicles beginning with model year 2022 to be equipped with a standardized open data platform that vehicle owners and independent repair facilities may access to retrieve mechanical data and run diagnostics through a mobile-based application, thereby maintaining that vehicle owners and independent repair facilities may access mechanical and diagnostic data through a personal computer. |

The open platform means that the chinese can literally have the source code to steal and duplicate anything and everything. That’s just for starters. A terrible idea. The backers din’t respect auto repairers - They’re traveling in and funding it from around the world through the Mass. court system because it is the most liberal in the nation and they desperately want a precedent case to shove down the entire nation’s throat. The sponsors are not even from Mass! It is a money grab by Asian backers who make electronic parts. |
