HTF do the "mention" tags work?

If I type "Raazor," highlight the letters in his name, and then click the little speaker icon, it puts MENTION tags around the name but it doesn't put in the user number so the actual MENTION function doesn't work. If I want it to actually notify Raazor that I mentioned him I have to manually look up his user number and manually add it to the tags. That's too much ****ing work, so there must be an easier way.

Just type the @ symbol then the username, you potato.

This is the easiest and most intuitive method. If you find this didn't work once posted, you may have misspelled the name, or if the username contains spaces or special characters, try @username; (add a semicolon at the end)

Yes, that method does work...I just tested it following your exact instructions --> @Raazor
At no point is entering a userID number necessary.

Edit: I quoted this post and now see the user # does get added to the tag, however that was done by the tagging software, not by me looking up or entering the number. This action happens only when the post is submitted, you won't see the name appear as a link on preview.
