My issue is with the bold text. And not with Norm personally even though he'd rather kick me in the sack than converse with me.

I agree with every thing he said with the exception of the fear God part. And before I explain, I'm curious what fear God means to everyone. (Except Norm who won't be able to see this response, and LATB who I think is a hypocritical liar)

Only one hero. My grandfather. He was "just" a hard-working, honest, farmer in rural Mississippi. He managed, however, to raise 4 daughters, my cousin and me, and probably everyone else in the community in some ways. We never went hungry, he taught us to work hard and to study hard, and he understood how young people thought. Every Saturday afternoon around 4:00, he'd tell my cousin and me, "You boys knock off work and go into town and have a little fun."

Like all farmers, he borrowed the money from the Bank to grow the crops, then always paid it back at harvest. I'd ride to the bank with him in his 1953 Chevy pickup when he made the loans; he'd wear his usual overalls and brogans. If a friend or neighbor needed a little help financially, he'd oblige; a handshake was all that was needed. They rarely let him down.

He taught me to swim, how to run a tractor, how to grow crops and a garden, how to fish and hunt, what you word means...to yourself. He bought 20 Santa Gertrudis steers for me to pay for my first year of college. It was probably all he afford for my college, but I most appreciated that he said I was on my own after that; it meant he had confidence I'd find a way.
