Default ABC Killed a Cherished Memory of My Childhood

The Charlie Brown Halloween Special will no longer be broadcast this month on TV. If you want to see it, you'll have to subscribe to Apple TV.

Bastards. Is nothing sacred?

How to Watch and Stream 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown' This Halloween Season
For 2020, the Halloween special will not be airing on ABC.

By Amanda Garrity
Oct 19, 2020

Spooky season doesn't start until you spend some quality time with your favorite Peanuts characters. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, which first aired way back in 1966, has become a Halloween classic that the whole family can enjoy together. Although this year's Halloween is certainly different than most, some traditions hold true, like watching Charlie and friends "tricks or treats" as a group of misshapen, holey ghosts.
When Will the Charlie Brown Halloween Special Air in 2020?
It was announced on October 19 that It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown would air exclusvely on AppleTV+. While you can sign up for a free trial of AppleTV+ to watch it before Halloween, the streaming service is offering it at no cost from Oct. 30 - Nov. 1 to all viewers.

I guess they'll let you stream it for a couple of days without subscribing, but damn it, that's not the point.

I don't ever watch ABC to begin with but that's a shitty thing to do.
Also I have the dvd, any movie I want to watch I generally buy or stream due to so many commercials.

Read that Apple has deal now and will be only place to watch any of the Peanuts Holiday shows now. Baiting people in by offering a day or two free a few times before end of the year.

I just searched a couple of articles. I'm wondering if they are going to require you to register in any way - provide an email address for instance - to watch it for free. I'm "assuming" that it will be playable directly from their site however it wouldn't surprise me if some kind of registration will be required. At minimum for smart TV's they are going to have to download the App.

I haven't watched it in years but it seems like this is the one thing that should have been left on regular TV for those that don't have smart devices even if Apple wanted it for their service.

Basically, you need an Apple ID.
