The Texas Mile yesterday with pics
TEXAS MILE // OFFICIAL SITE // 3 DAYS, 1 MILE: NO SPEED LIMIT
It's a one mile speed run on the former NAS, Naval Air Station, Chase Field in Beeville, Tx. For the camera leg humpers, I'm on the other end of a professional so I just used a simple point and shoot. The most popular cars to run were Vettes, Mustang/Cobras, and CTS-Vs. Yet, there were all kinds of vehicles that continually lined up. There were motorcycles that crossed the line at speeds above 200 while the slow ass dog of the day went to the two wheel fella on a Sunday drive with 105 @ 1/2 and 111 at 1. The slow ass dog car went to the Mini Cooper with 130 @ 1. Overall, my buddy and I had a great time and are looking forward to going back again. A fella even had a camera mounted on this: Here's a coupla sleeper vehicles that ran around 170. A C4 @ 147 The fastest CTS-V @ 192 This begins the 200+ Club 217 226 2800 HP, Twin Turbo 200 @ 1/2 250 @ 1 Top speed of the day and new Texas Mile Record: 210 @ 1/2 267.6 @ 1 |

Air lifted to Austin. No broken bones. A picture I seen shows him kinda laying/sitting up in a bed. I suspect he does have a knot or two on his head though.

Great event, a shame about the way-fast Camaro...
We drove our very-stock C6 Z06 down from St. Louis, and had a blast. Both from seeing all the great machinery, and from having a chance to run WFO for that long (without fear of jail time). Lots of great cars to watch, hadn't seen that many ZR1's and Z06's in one place in awhile. And a dozen or more CTS-Vs in various states of tune. Our goal was to break 170, managed that on Sunday (171.4...I know it has more in it). Brought our MINI Cooper S also...all 1.6 litres, showroom stock, and managed a best of 135.9 on Sunday. And yes, it sucked to have to drive 1000+ miles home to the foot or more of snow that fell here in STL over the weekend! |
