Default Discount Tire Direct VS Tirerack
DTD has free shipping... TR does not.. At least it didn't when i just priced some tires out for muh new wheels that are due in this week.

When a guys like us are looking for larger 18 or 19 inch 275-305 low profiles thats another $75+ easy to ship them depending upon where they are coming from due to the weight and size.

I'll probably source tires locally anyway but what gives.

When I had to buy GY 315's and 275's for my C4, Discount Tire direct ended up being cheaper. Since the shipping is already factored into the price, it makes it easier to shop. Nearly $30 cheaper in that case, but you should check every time as I'm sure one or the other might have a deal at any given time.

Wanted to buy from Tire Rack, but they didn't handle Nittos at the time (may still not). Discount did, free shipping, decent price, etc. One failed a road force balance, called, sent a new one in 2 days, pre-paid shipping back on the bad one, couldn't ask for better customer service. I'll deal with them again.

Discount tire direct cost more per tire than the actual discount tire store. $247 vs $223. Hell, I can get them mounted and out the door including taxes for the same price as the "free delivery" from DTD.

That presupposes that there is a Discount Tire store somewhere in the close proximity. . . there are none in northern Virginia, the D.C. metroplex, or southern Maryland.

I just put Nitto 555s on the Coupe, got them from the local Discount Tire store. Ended up almost being a wash, just a few bucks more from the store, but it was much easier than having them shipped and taking everything to have them mounted.

I've found that after comparing out the door prices, each outlet will have a better price on different tires for the cars that I own. If I can save ten bucks, I'll order from that place.
I have found that the end result is the same.
The tires get to my door in less than three days.
I use both places, depending on price.

Anyone evey buy tires at Pep Boys? How was the experience?

They have a buy 3 get the 4th free, that i can stack w/ a 20% promo they are running. I'm looking at $670 out the door for four 275/40/19's. For that price mounted, balanced, w/ tpms swapped over and an additional $60 manufacturers rebate that's hard to pass up.

Every time I have looked for tires - DTD has beat TireRack in price every time. Plus, with a DTD near my home - those guys have offered me the same price as I could get online and did the install for free as well as given me the lifetime rotate/balance just from buying my tires from them.

You can't beat their service they have given me every time I have gone to them.

Discount Tire opened a new store here so I ordered tires for my C5 online and had them shipped to the store. Ordering them that way was cheaper than Discount Tire Direct.

I tried the DTD near me once. They put my larger size rear tires on the front and the smaller front tires on the back. And they apparently assigned Michael J Fox the task of removing and reinstalling the lug nuts. Never again, I says.
