I've always found giants to be interesting, and actors of stature particularly so.

Gwynne was blessed with a comic timing that allowed him to transcend his size and get roles based purely on his range, with his height then becoming part of the character, instead of being the reason he was cast.

Andre "The Giant" Roussimoff was another one lucky enough to be cast in benevolent character roles.

Guys like Kiel, or David "Darth Vader" Prowse usually limited to playing the heavy, but the great ones still manage to shine through.
