Default Robinhood

Does anyone here use Robinhood to buy and sell stocks ?
I'm asking because my son who passed away two weeks ago said he had stocks with them and he told my wife she was the beneficiary to anything he had but we have nothing to go on. His Iphone locked and my wife sent Robinhood emails because there is no phone # to call. She sent them his name and death certificate but no one is getting back to her.
I guess all we want to know is what he has and it's worth before we have to deal with the NYC court system as the amount might not be worth the time and travel etc.
If anyone can give any constructive information it would sure help and be appreciated.
Thanks, John

Never heard of this company, and again, I'm so sorry for your loss and what you must be going through right now. Is this an online broker like Charles Shwab? If so, I'd figure out who regulates businesses like that at either the federal, or state level (assuming they have offices in your state). An inquiry to a regulator would probably be the fastest way to get things rolling.

In your correspondence with the presumed regulator, give all the info you have, and include copies of e-mails you've sent, phone calls made, etc., and the fact that you're getting no one to even talk to you.

Good luck, they have generally bad reviews regarding their customer service. Any business that doesn’t make phone support easily available scares the shit out of me.

i know it might be too soon, but maybe he wrote down or printed his account number and password. i do because there are so many passwords these days i forget. perhaps a look through his desk drawer or nightstand might reveal something?

Yes, you indeed have a problem..
Robinhood is now their own "clearing broker" meaning they handle the transactions internally and so the big houses Fidelity, Schwab, etc. might not have any info on your son's trades:

Contact Robinhood again by downloading the app and arranging phone support using the app.
https://blog.robinhood.com/news/2021...-phone-support

Once you make contact and confirm your son actually has assets through them, if they are jerk-offs state firmly that you will contact the Securities & Exchange Office of Investor Education and Advocacy if they are non-responsive and file a complaint. If your wife is truly a beneficiary then they should be forthcoming with info.

(I worked at the SEC and NObody wants an investor complaint filed with them)

Make sure you have your son's SSN and other pertinent info at hand. It'll prob be tedious working through the process but you'll eventually get results.

Document EVERY phone call, email, etc.....date/time/topic/contact point/etc.

Wouldn't a lawyer be able to get all his passwords?

Mine told me upon death they can. No easy but they can.

Do you have access to his computer? If so, lots of browsers store passwords within the browser settings and you may be lucky and be able to get in that way. One other thing is if you can get into his email account used with the Robinhood account, you may be able to request a password reset and get in that way

Not always and if so, for about $450/hr.

That's assuming he used his computer to access his account. Most people use mobile devices.
