I think it's totaled. I should take it off your hands.

We don’t see any chewed wires. Just this so far:

Ah - I thought you meant wire insulation. I'd probably just leave it as it is. I don't think duct tape would last very long. There's a big chunk out of the foam engine cover on the GF's car where the bastards were eating it.

Can you duck tape where they ate the insulation on the firewall?
Bad news coming: When they drown, they sink. When they get to a certain level of decomposition, they will bloat and float. If you have a working sense of smell, you don't want to let them get to the bloat and float point.

The worse news, the water becomes really murky after a few days of the seeds floating on top. The way to find the dead critters is to feel around on the bottom of the bucket with your hand. Sorry.

I mean, she could use a stick, a paint stirrer, etc., instead, but what fun would that be?

If I ever saw a rat around here I'd declare war. Only one I ever saw in this state was in a warehouse 30 miles from here 30 years ago. Already dead, laying in a semi-truck unloading dock. I think probably it died on a truck, or was transported here dead from elsewhere.

I keep a baited mouse trap in the kitchen. Caught a mouse yesterday in fact. First one since freezing temps set in. Probably a new arrival due to our February thaw last week? They infiltrate hard prior to Winter. Before the snow set in I was catching them once a day.
