Default Ernie, neighbor across the street....
Passed on Wed AM sometime, my next door neighbor known him for over 20 years here, I went to his retirement party Dec. '97......So Chuck and I wondering why his door not up, after 8 am....for the morning coffee group where we cuss out the AM news on TV....and so Ernie was cold as ice on the bathroom floor......Chuck really upset, like the rest of the folks up/down the street, but we didn't see the body like THAT......so funeral after Easter...

Sorry to hear, rest in peace.
It's never alright to see someone dead outside the funeral home, and for some that's even bad enough, but to see a lifeless body in a non-sterile surroundings, that's a burning impression in your mind.

That's horrible, sorry for your loss. I had a neighbor that we had to go in to find him near death, on the floor. He survived that episode, but died months later, in the hospital.

Well, I moved here 22 years ago, most all the neighbors are my age group....and so Bob was a car person, and passed on just over 2 years ago, his wife finally got her act together and sold the house 6 months ago, the buyer is a widower age 72........Chuck is ex.mil and worked at the base hospital, wife is a nurse also....Chuck called me, all upset at the discovery, so I called 911 and got the crews out, the mortuaries?? arrived in two white trucks to take him away....they cleaned up most of the mess in the bathroom.... Ernie was 8 years older than me, Coast Guard, Mekong, engine room water at 80f instead of 40f.....about roasted him alive.....tough old guy.....

Thanks for your support guys, the whole block is visiting and commenting....

we thinking of arranging a last meet over at Ernie's house, garage open and we set there and talk as per usual, for one last time.....

probably bring out a bottle of Crown Royal....we have plenty of the shot glasses to go around....

Sounds like a good plan! After my good friend Rick's funeral service last year, we had beer and steaks at my house in his honor. We grilled a lot here or at his house, so it was fitting, and I know he would have approved.

Yeh, when Bob died, his wife held a backyard party/rememberance gathering for friends and neighbors in the back yard where they lived for some 30+ years....so for to continue the thoughts......
