New wheels and tires
First, thanks to Pete for the suggestions on these wheels. For tires, I settled on BF Goodrich KDW's, 275-17's all the way around. What a difference just driving home from American Tire. Car really sticks in the corners, well, I had only one corner coming home that I drive most of the time, and it was a huge difference.
4 Tires mounted and balanced: $1,018.50 4 new wheels from OEWheels shipped: $642.60 |

looking good Charlie. Those ARE the tires I mentioned. Those things are a beast on corners. IMO better than the Good Years I have.

I love the tread pattern on those. Very nice wheels too. Good shoes make all the difference in the world.

So I guess you were not imagining things with the old tires having a vague, disconnected feel.

Very nice indeed. I just did the new tires thing as well, wish mine were that cheap. Goodyear Eagle F1 EMT run flats, waaaaayyyyy too expensive. They cost around $400 a corner and only last 20K miles at best.

The Kumo's are: ECSTA SPT 285-40Z R17 100W Mileage on tires: 4,149 bought: 7-22-2011 The date code on the tire is 4810 (or week 48 year 2010). What do you think I should sell these for? I originally paid $189 each. Tire rack shows $161. Kumho*Ecsta SPT |

Thanks everyone. I love these tires. The first thing I noticed on Monday driving to work (30 miles one way), the car no longer would wonder (left to right) on the road due to imperfections of the road such as ruts. I also noticed there is no sidewall flex, and I can run these at 33psi which is what they recommend.
As for the brakes going from the J55 standard setup to the C5 setup, the brakes are a lot smoother and seem to react faster than the old setup. I noticed if I pump the petal once prior to using them, they grip better. Overall, they are an improvement over the J55. |
