Glad you're on the other side of surgery and starting to mend.
That looks like a hell of a zipper. Scott

Tough like Swayze ? Well, I guess that I had to be.
At the 12 day mark, I went to get the staples out. If that didn't suck enough, upon the last staple being removed, blood started flowing down my leg. By the time the nurses butterflied the entire thing, a nice pool of blood was on the floor. Then the doctor comes in for the exam and starts to move my knee cap around, which was not comfortable, and says I have some bad news.... I'm thinking, alright, here we go...... He proceeded to tell me that I have a hemotoma and that he'd have to drain it from under the cap... Lovely... Another needle. So he drained 80 cc's of blood out. One and 3/4 of those big tubes...The good news? The pain of the needle was immediately eclipsed by the relief of the pressure that the hematoma was causing. FF to last week. I was having trouble catching a full breath, as it was painful at 3/4 breath. Yawning and sneezing were out of the question. My daughter just happened to be in her emergency room rotation so I called her and she sad "Dad, if you ever listen to me, listen to me now... GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM!!!" Damn, another inconvenience. I went the next morning and sure as shit, I had a pulmonary embolism. They transported me by ambalance to the hospital where I stayed one night and was released at 5pm the next day. That was last Thursday. I went back to work This past Tuesday... The TKR was no walk in the park. As of today, 8 weeks, 4 days post OP, I am walking like a champ with no pain. I'll let you know if I'd do it again in another 4 months, but as of today, I would, as my osteo pain is totally gone and I'm taking 0 pain meds. Thanks for asking |

Pulmonary embolisms are no fun. Had one almost 7 years ago.
Best wishes Jeff! |
