i was a very sick man, as noted in this thread

since then, i've had a lot of changes, including a pretty fancy pacemaker, and have lost 70 pounds and the doctors tell me my heart is now healthy again.

i posted the following after this on a site for family and friends, and still think it's true:

That likely saved my life.

Do you know what a miracle looks like?

My education was a little lacking on that topic, but let me offer a few thoughts.

From reading the Bible, one might think that trumpets and angels sound the alarm and announce that a miracle has taken place.

Or perhaps beams of light shine down from heaven like a spot light on a stage.

It appears that that may not be the case presently.

But when your wife insists you go to the ER, and there are trained and experienced medical personnel there to help you, with the proper equipment in hand, and then you get a safe ride in the middle of the night on a dangerous road, and meet more medical personnel who run tests and procedures to figure out what care you need, and administer drugs to help you get better, then this long chain of successful events starts to look like a miracle if you are on the receiving end of it.

God does not send out text messages or emails telling you that you are the recipient of a miracle, but he does let you live to see another day of his sunshine and rain.

And for that, I’m thankful.

While the future is unknown, I’m confident I’m on the right track to full recovery, with many more years ahead of me.

Have you ever seen/made writing pens of wood?

I received one, years ago, made of Carpathian Elm. Gorgeous to look at, and a delight to use.

yep. have one i bought years ago at CI2, and had a catalog that offered blanks and supplies for making them. just been too busy this summer to pursue something like that. maybe this fall/winter.

My wife will be getting her third pacemaker next year. She first got one 14 years ago. She has other health problems, but her heart is functioning just fine with medication to control atrial fib. I'm glad you are doing well. Pacemakers are marvelous devices.
