An adjacent public bathroom stunk to high heaven. They had all kinds of candles burning in there, funny perfume sticks and shit. I asked our waitress if we could see the manager; told him to fill the floor drain traps, and why. Issue resolved.

Being properly vented is absolutely critical for a properly functioning trap and drain system. If the trap is dry, the vent is either not there, was not built properly, or is plugged.

I'm just a dumb retired toolmaker and I've known that for over 40 years.

Wifey cleans out all drains about 2X/year, never a clog.
She does the same with AC filters and flushes the line with bleach.
Gotta love the wifey!!
