It sucks. Needs to be switched to standard time all year. Instead we have like 9 months of this BS and 3 of normal time.

So far, been getting out of bed at 8 to 9 am instead of 7-8 am. Oh well. Retired so it doesn't matter much. Just that I'm a morning person, and like it light early.

At your age, you're lucky to be able to get out of bed... especially when you have to pee

Permanent DST for me...I hate leaving work when it's dark. Much prefer getting here in the dark.

I can't fathom how just one hour change can make such a drastic impact on people.

Granted, i'd prefer no time change at all... but living with it is no big deal to me.

It never was a big deal to anyone I knew or grew up with, only within the past 10 years or so are people upset by it.

It's stupid to continue with DST because the reason for doing it never accomplished the intended purpose (save energy).

People in the eastern and southern part of their time zone generally like DST, people in the western and northern part of their TZ like SDT.

It's been around a lot longer than since people worried about energy. I was told when I was a kid that it was so farmers had more daylight in the summer evenings to get more work done.

As for the energy paranoia:

Yes I thought that too. The amount of daylight doesn't change, just the hands on the clocks.

I figured it like this, going from memories of being on my uncle's dairy farm as a kid. They would get done with afternoon milking and be eating supper by probably 6 PM. They normally got up around 5 AM for morning milking.

So then, after supper, they would have 2-3 hours (or, one extra) to do hay or other chores that needed daylight, shoot woodchucks, or pick blueberries in the pastures.

It's just me and the dogs this week. Them keeping me on a schedule, along with DST, has been a rude awakening.

Here's a simple test to decide if you're in favor or against something.

Do the Commucrats want it?

Question answered....(AFAIK, the push for coming off DST comes mostly from Commucrat-controlled states)

It is a common myth in the United States that DST was first implemented for the benefit of farmers.[36][37][38] In reality, farmers have been one of the strongest lobbying groups against DST since it was first implemented.[36][37][38] The factors that influence farming schedules, such as morning dew and dairy cattle's readiness to be milked, are ultimately dictated by the sun, so the clock change introduces unnecessary challenges.[36][38][39]

DST was first implemented in the US with the Standard Time Act of 1918, a wartime measure for seven months during World War I in the interest of adding more daylight hours to conserve energy resources.[40][39]

As we know, Wiki is written and controlled by leftist radicals. My comment was only what my parents had told me. Unlike most people today, I have some retained knowledge (that may be right or wrong) that was learned long before the internets so I don't necessarily have to Google everything.

Having said that, I would challenge their idea that daylight has anything to do with when cows need to be milked (at least in the 1950s and '60s. Maybe everything has changed now).

They need to be milked about every 12 hours, especially * "fresh" ones. In December it would be dark during the morning milking, and getting dark soon after the 4 PM milkings began. In the summer, it would be light throughout both milkings.

* A "fresh" cow is one that has recently given birth and therefore has a lot of milk.

I don't know why I'm wasting time arguing with you on this because it doesn't really affect me one way or the other. I go to bed when I'm tired and wake up whenever my body tells me to.

Since you don't like Wiki, maybe you'll believe it from a few farm publications. Maybe your parents were wrong.

I totally agree. We should probably pick one, and DST it should be. For what it's worth, the folks spazzing out over an hour time change need to CTFO.
