There is no such head start in China, and yet Tesla sales are up over there, and the Model Y is still China's best selling EV.

There is another huge way the government has it's finger on the scales that's not even being discussed in this thread. ICE prices are artificially high and EV prices artificially low as a result.

Thing is, it never was ecologically responsible. Not in 1890 and not in 2020. The juice was not then or now worth the squeeze.
Forest management, clean ICE vehicles, recycling, renewable resources, etc. are viable methods of us being responsible. It's just too bad that the other 85% of the planet could not care less.
It's like there are 1000 of us in the public pool, and there is only one man (American) not pissing in the water. It is what it is.
Anybody with an IQ of over 65 can see it's all about Virtue Signaling and power.

Chrysler is going to lose their ass on this dumb decision and may not recover without extensive 'government' (our) money. What a bunch of dumb****s they have at the controls.

I understand, but I'm also not going to let my house become a raccoon infested pig sty just because my neighbors let their house go to hell.

Who cares?

I've been to China many times. I'm sure as hell not going to use it as a benchmark for ANYTHING.

With that said, yes, please tell us how good Tesla is doing in China...

Cutting margins significantly... and still losing market share at an insane rate. Lookin' good.

Uhmm. Ok.

I never said or even remotely implied otherwise.

The same reason some people fly while crammed into the airplane like sardines while paying extra for checked baggage: all they see is the lowest price.

I don't fly anymore because it's no longer required. Same with wearing a suit.
It's the one thing keeping me from going back to Europe for another visit or two.
After 2001, it's become unpleasant.

TSA Precheck, Global Entry and First Class make vacation flying tolerable.

I haven’t worn my suit in years. I like it that way.

My wife and I flew to Europe in September of 2023 for a family wedding, and I convinced my wife to spend the money on business class to avoid dealing with the lowest of the riff raff. The flights were fine, but the "business class lounge" experience was more or less indiscernible from the "Walmart experience".

Being able to actually get some sleep on the way over was great, and worth at least some of the extra money we spent. But anyone expecting a "high class experience" would be sorrowfully disappointed.

I plan to never board another airliner or see the inside of an airport again. The entire process is horrible.

I don't blame you for that.

The reality is that my family is pretty spread out across the US, and a couple of places in Europe. As a result, if I want to attend important family events, I often fly to the mid-west US, the Rockies, the West Coast, and Europe.

I don't love it, but I do it.

Have you considered booking passage on tramp steamer to Europe?

We used to go up to Baltimore pretty often to visit family and friends.
In 2020 we went up to bury dad and we have had enough.
Hell it seemed like half of our trips were to funerals. Mom. Dad. MIL. BIL x2. SIL…
We are done.
