Default Bought a new computer

A new..old computer.

Old Compaq with SVGA monitor, 56k modem, 3.5 FDD, 20mb HDD.

Dude bought it back in the day and played with it for a week and then packed it away. I've been wanting to revisit some of my old computer games from the '90s and couldn't pass it up for $25 for the new condition it's in.

I also have a few old computers without monitors or keyboard. This will help me sort through them.

Whom ever you going to dial into with that modem these days? I think AOL disconnected that dial up a long time ago.

Cool find though.

You may be able to find an ISA Ethernet card and get broadband internet on that. Not sure if you want to use the new Netscape Navigator browser or stick with the more traditional Mosaic. Be careful if you visit a website that has a video, hate for you to fill that 20 MB hard drive up.

What's funny is that the BIOS on that computer might support a 256 MB hard drive, perhaps even a 512 MB. But you'll pay more for that than you will a new 4 TB drive.

When I built my first 386 computer, I included an 80 MB harddrive (double-din 5.25" hard drive)....$1,800.

I spent a lot of time with XTs, 286,386, 486, Pent. machines. The legendary HDD for me was a Seagate 40MB ST-251 or something. Those things were dead reliable and had self parking head lol. None of that running around with a utility on the floppy disc. to park a head before moving it.

That was our "big" Christmas present in 1972 for myself and my two younger brothers.

It was $20 back in 1972 which equates to $120.58 today

I think they got rid of the turbo button by that point. You used to be able to slow them down lol.
