PCH Road Trip

Have been San Francisco to SD multiple times in the Vette. Carmel south is spectacular until you get through Santa Barbara then just busy highway to San Diego, which IMO is a great destination. I also drove the Angles Crest Highway east out of LA and as far as driving, that was outstanding as are some of the canyon roads around LA. Try to fit that into the schedule. The PCH isn't about driving so much as looking. Just spectacular views mile after mile. Just don't count on a lot of spirited driving.

I would bail off of PCH around Santa Maria to avoid the traffic nightmare between Santa Barbara and San Diego.

I second the recommendation of Angeles Crest Highway. There are many nice roads in inland San Diego county as well.
