I'd rather get pulled over by Texas DPS than the Sheriff's Dept or Constables. DPS is hardcore, near military in their approach, BUT they don't play bullshit games and aren't trying to prove anything. I respect them a lot more.

That being said, don't push them or the hammer will drop. They aren't intimidated and don't back down an inch. Locals are usually scared shitless during a stop and come off tough to hide their fear.

I've never had a Texas DPS, Okla Highway Patrol, or state officer be anything other than courteous - even once when I gave the big "roll eyes" when a Texas DPS pulled me over for no front plate. He laughed. Said, "My sister has a vette and she won't put a front plate on hers either." He explained in his area they were required to stop TX cars with no front plate as part of a drug interdiction plan. He gave me a warning but it went in the system and explained the next stop would mean a ticket. Then we talked vettes for a while as he was nearing retirement and planning to buy one.



But I had a few very different encounters with local yokels, especially when I was very young. Long hair. Fast car... etc.

That is exactly why my hands were visible, I respected him and he was nice in return. No attitudes were to be found. AMAZING how well things went.

Bet this fine Trooper knew more about you than your wife, well before knocking on the passenger window. He knew were CCW and likely were holding, I mean today isn't everyone.... I'm not familiar with the law in PA, that says you have to disclose the firearm in your possession and I wouldn't have, as he knew already...


I'd also have to ask you, if the Statie was wearing his hat, when he first walked up to you? If not, he was never even considering writing you up. At that point, it was all up to you and what exited your mouth. Along with his visual inspection of the vehicle...

Most of my close cop buddies don't pull cars or truck over anymore, it's all electronically documented with cameras and highway devices. Reasoning, first off to avoid conflict endangering themselves, along with reducing the risks of catching this virus...

Good news is nicer to read then bad news, I'll give you that!
