Mary doesn't have to work* so we'll have crab cakes with homemade cole slaw and homemade apple sauce.

Nothing real fancy but very good

Have a nice local cabernet finished in bourbon barrels to go with it...
I have a friend in VA that was winemaker of the year. Don't know where you are in VA, but she is Maggie Malick in Loudoun. Lot's of interesting varietals.

Which winery? We're in Leesburg (Loudoun County). This one is from Quattro Gumbas. They have some great beer (and pizza), and this Cab was aged in barrels from A. Bowmans Distillery in Fredericksburg (some good bourbons there as well).

Maggie Malick Wine Caves in Purcellville. Really nice place; they even do that dog dock launch thing, and host several pet events during the year. The other one I like in that area is Breaux.

Virginia country ham on cast iron skillet biscuits, some kind of taters and beans, whatever sides the kids bring and too many desserts.

Since it is just my wife and I for Christmas Day we will have our big meal as a late breakfast. Becki is making her Crème Brûlée French toast. Served with thick cut bacon. Rest of the day will be grazing. Have all the fixings for a pretty damn good charcuterie platter that will include various meats, cheeses, nuts, honeycomb, mustards etc

Always wanted to do that for Christmas eve. There's only two of us, so it might be a bit of overkill.

My Christmas cioppino has halibut, shrimp, clams, lobster, scallops and crab. So count me down for 6 of 7 fishes

Ribeye steaks and baked taters for the DJ family this year. Very little work, easy to do, and no big dinner production that gets everyone worked up and ready to kill each other.

Oh, and no guests or worse....my cousin and her herd of piglets. Just me, mom, and dad this year.

Just me and my doggo this year…officially adopted on 11/19 (Christmas came early this year ) after being dog-sat here at my home for over 9 months. Former owner’s life-threatening health issues just not conducive to pet ownership at this point

I had filet mignon with grilled corn, heirloom tomatoes, and a small slice of orange-cranberry cheesecake for dessert. Doggo had a lil bit of steak and green beans on her kibble for dinner. Special Christmas dog treats later on for her dessert

Had the kids over today (daughter and son-in-law),
made a small roast , 5.5 lbs minced garlic, salt and pepper rub;

Baked a Marie Calender Razzleberry pie, baked some Wisconsin Russet spuds,
made a tossed salad with grape tomatoes, dinner rolls, and a small tub of jello for the 2 grandaughters;

Roast turned out perfect!
