Guys: Yadkin likes tinkering. It's what he does. He enjoys problem solving out of the box. If he didn't have an appliance to repair he'd probably be carving a cuckoo clock. He's retired now, and needs project to keep him busy and out of BD's hair. Let him be.

Not so much. My electric bill is only about $100/ month. Not a lot to worry about there....

If you paid what I do per Kwh, your electical bill would be $800-$900 per month. (.52--.54 per kwh).

Mine here is 15 cents with TVA source and a local distributor; twice what I used to pay in Winston-Salem with Duke Energy.

California has an 'Orange Man Bad, Fossil Fuels Bad, Nukes Bad, Power Plants Bad, Farmers Bad, and Prisons Bad' edict. It's not working out well for us taxpayers.

We just had a 17% hike over last year and now they're pushing for more next year. Currently, the basic rate (before time of day surcharges is 19.45 cents/kWh)

When I lived in New York the rates kept rising and Niagara Mohawk said it was because of the expensive nuclear power. Here in NC Duke Energy says our costs are so low because of the cheap nuclear power.

Holy crap ! I hope you’ve got solar on the roof. The payback would be 3-5 years.

Wrongo Egghead. Duke filed for a ~45% increase w NC Utility board; due to burden of people moving and new infrastructure required.and cost to go green forced by customers. 1st, make the nOOBs pay it, not established customers. 2nd, ya want green make it a contribution by consumer, not a requirement.

Here in the PNW, I'm not convinced on the return of solar but admittedly, I haven't done my due diligence either.

Of course, the real kicker is our power is hydroelectric......

Since Duke took over Progress my electric bill has doubled. Duke already said next rate request in 3 years will ask for doubling of rates due to all the green bullshit. I'll go green as I'll be eating weeds after paying electric bill.

Western NC area was a 45% request just this year(3 years total 45%), our area 30% plus request.
They said all the damage from storms in Mountains and it costs more to upgrade there was the reason for higher request.
They said customers will foot 100% of any and all costs for upgrades.
My rates just went up and so did grid access and a supplemental charge.
It'll be 20 to 25 extra a month at least.

I was referring to my original statement, Heimey, the one that caused your hysteria.

We're served by Mountain Electric, and they buy wholesale from TVA. I haven't seen an uptick in bills lately, but then again I use very little- no electric heat, no AC. I use electricity for lighting (almost all LED for years now), to move air through the house, clothes dryer, range and oven. Heat is Sweet Lady Propane.

Looking at the old replacement part I see where the supplier may have went wrong. The first picture is a stamp on the bracket that holds valve two and the ice maker valve. It's marked 120vac.

The second picture is for valve one, the one that receives 84vdc. It's also marked 120vac.

Can an ac solenoid operate on pulsing dc current?
