Why wasn't CPR performed on George Floyd? That seems very strange to me.

I've been playing devil's advocate and posing possible defense plays for the officer, but this is a valid sticking point. The EMT reaches down and feels for a pulse, then they load his limp body on to a stretcher, but never check again and never attempt any rescue efforts.

Not only that but why, if there was possibly a concern that he had opioids on board > then became unresponsive, was he not administered narcan.

Every bit of this could have been avoided if George Floyd wasn't out being a damn criminal, passing bogus bills. Somewhere, that has been lost in the message. He is being remembered as some sort of saint, and he was a genuine piece of shit, with a lengthy criminal record. The EMTs tried to revive him with an AED in the ambulance but he didn't respond.

Don't life saving efforts start right where the person lies? Time is precious when there is no pulse...unless there was one when he was loaded up.

That's a question you would have to ask the EMTs. Anything I would say would be pure speculation.

Here's an interesting take on the subject from an EMT, though. When I did my class for CPR when I owned my gym, the class was taught by a woman who has been a firefighter and EMT for 15 years. I asked her how many lives she had saved with an AED. She replied zero. She said 99 out of 100 times the EMTs arrive, it's too late. She said that's why it's important to train civilians in CPR and why AEDs are designed in such a way that it takes no medical education to operate one. She said I would have a better chance of saving a family member with one than she would because I'm already on the scene when the event happens.

Sure seems like St. Floyd was speedballin' so bad he was probably going to die anyway, from the fentanyl in his system.

That was my point, any beat cop that has been around long enough knows the signs of OD.


FYI, not sure about where this occurred, but no way in hell ANYONE would be arrested for a counterfeit $20 in most cities. They would be cited and appear in court, but arrested and restrained?
