Some racing pics...
Posted these in OT but thought I would put them here as well. I have a few hundred that I would like to upload and share. Photobucket doesn't seem to like that idea. What are you guys using for mass uploads? I have them up on Flickr, but you have to be a member apparently to see them there... any other options?
Camera is my older Canon T1i with a few different lenses, nothing special in that regard. I learned exactly how hard it was to take pictures of something moving that fast, from that close, in very very minimal light. Most of the night time pics were anywhere from a 1/100 to a 1/250 shutter with various F stops trying to get a decent overall look. At those shutter speeds, getting a clear image of the cars was pretty difficult to say the least. I had all night so I took all kinds of random pics on various settings to see the effect. Some came out pretty cool, others did not. |

I don't know what it is, maybe the color... but I love this picture. You can actually see the speed difference between the cars with the way it came out. I have access to an awesome printer with canvas capabilities so I'm thinking it would make a nice piece garage art.

You got some keepers Panning technique is more art than science. You want some blur to indicate speed, but also a sharp image.

..and made infinitely more difficult standing behind a fence! Most of those were actually taken from directly behind a chain link fence. You can see it in a few of them as a dark spot. The hardest part was to get the focus to go "around" the fence. I had to zoom closer to get that to happen, which of course made it even more difficult to get enough light.

I love this one too. I took the liberty of putting my spin on editing.
This is the original. I dropped the black levels, and bumped the saturation. Fixed the horizon on one and went further on the other. Added a little sharpening too. Subtle changes, but noticeable I think. |
