How is giving 1.4 trillion to po'folks not wealth redistribution? I don't want to see anyone out in the streets or go hungry. However, its pretty apparent that we need to belt tighten. I don't have an issue with making govts do more with less.

Free pass to what? We've pointed out that a person making 1 million pays 200k in taxes. When is too much too much? Why work hard to become successful and wealthy when/if the GOvt just takes it away to give to someone who didn't. I'm excluding those people who truly need assistance which if we could ever get an accurate count is probably a fraction of all people on govt assistance currently.

why don't we start by cutting our War Machine? why don't we cut our politicians salaries? how is it that poor people are where we should focus our cuts while the top 400 people that hold 1/2 the wealth get a tax break? don't we have enough poverty & homeless? do we realize that we become more like a 3rd world country by dividing the classes even more?

The Unions and Libs know it all and the rich and reps are thieves who hate that they already pay 60% of the federal income taxes so 47% of Americans can pay you got Libs 0% federal income taxes, time for those not in poverty to pay there fair share, if they want programs they need to pay for them.

The CC is broke, if we cancel the last tax law the rich will pay more and the middle class will be hammered and those with the EIC will lose half of it, libs you can not have it both ways, Bush gave a tax break to all not just the rich, that is why 47% oh you know pay what percent 0%

We can agree on something. I think Afghanistan (while a noble cause, and it has rooted out alot of terrorists that otherwise would be plotting against America) is a waste of time and money. It will be a shithole well into the future. You can't change a culture. Iraq I fully supported though - but now that we are (somewhat) complete there - its time to leave. I also feel the Iraqi's should pay us for 1) deposing a brutal leader and 2) rooting out radical Islam in their country. I am not liking this whole American Police the World crap thats going on. I think we should assist in spreading democracy sure...but I don't think we should be nation building or stretching ourselves to thin. Reference the Romans and see how that worked out for them. Its kind of the path we are on now. Nobody likes having to cut budgets. And I don't think any person (Pubs/Dems) want to see starving people. But there has to be sane and reasonable amounts of assistance...and that shouldn't include lifetime inclusion to the welfare rolls or encourage single moms to pop out 7 babies with each one causing them to get a "raise".

Poor people don't pay taxes - so I'm not getting that point. Politicians salaries - well I'm with you there. There's no reason a legislator should be making 180k a year...nor receive the ridiculous perks they do. IMO that should be cut in half and all of them should have to pay for healthcare and contribute to retirement just like the rest of America. I feel the same way about public unions. The deal is too sweet, and the way collective bargaining is structured is retarded. Wow...if only I could vote myself a pay raise and benefits I wanted - what a great thing that would be for me. A terrible thing for my company though - and they'd soon be bankrupt. I suppose there is a happy medium there...but I don't think it will ever be found.

We've fought a war on poverty for 40+ years. While its a noble thought to think that throwing out free money will cure the problem - it won't. The amount of support for the poor out in the US is staggering. I am for cutting out the bloat, identifying those that could support themselves and kicking them off the roles, and in general making assistance a limited thing vs a permanent one. When I see someone (and trust me its a regular occurence) using food stamps, wic, and section 8 - but yet have a relatively new car, a cell phone, cable, and a D&G purse - and 4 kids (each from different fathers) that irritates me. Again, bad choices on someone else shouldn't be my concern to take care of. Raising taxes to shell out more isn't the answer.

I think each (liberal and conservatives) have equally contributed to fecking the world up...wouldn't you? Quit generalizing entire parties - there are some truly good cons who've helped this country...and there are truly good libs who've contributed as well. In the past 30 years though the Dem party has been hijacked in a way by the socialist types (which in truth was always really there - but never out in the open as it seems to be now).

I've been to every major city that is run by democrats. Their policies don't work in the long term and the corruption is just as high.

Until special interests, and congress/senates abilities to reward them is eliminated - we'll never have a country representative of its people.
