FPV works because you have spatial sense as first person to do the job. Drones, planes, really slow cars maybe. I would say the same as flying 3D with FPV. Impossible to do at any level above tame. When racing RC, your peripheral vision is at least as important as your focus. You see stuff turns ahead of where you are while still driving. So third person is best. A 1/10th at speed is running 400-500mph scale. 200mph through hairpins. Nobody but a top F1 driver has a chance at one of these FPV. |

About ten years ago I dug out my old control line stunt planes and got one of them going. Had to order the fuel from back east, it's haz-mat now, (Nitro and castor oil) and a big PITA. Got the old Fox .35 fired up and the 60 foot steel lines laid out and went for a spin. I actually got DIZZY. The flight time is about 6 to 8 minutes, too long. I ended up doing some wing-overs but no loops or inverted, as it had been 45 years and I didn't want to wreck the plane. The smell of the castor oil and nitro brought it all back. And the noise. My god what a racket! And we used to fly these things on any school playground we could. It was fun, but haven't flown since. Still have about a gallon of that fuel. And all my old engines.....Fox .35's, McCoy .35's, Torpedo .29's and .32's, etc. Neat old stuff, just to look at. A childhood long gone, for sure.
