We're watching something and I will casually say something like....oh wow...look at that 53 Chevy or 67 Mustang Shelby GT 500 or 63 Corvette .....these last few decades have given us nothing like we grew up with....all plastic and many look the same.....shame .....and IB4

99% of what is produced today is blah at best but not to fret they charge a shitload of money for blah.

Sighted recently. No engine in the Ford, hence the stance. Ha ha. Just noticed the dude looking at me taking the pic.

Back in the 60's me and dad would spend a day going to the GM, Ford and Chrysler dealers when the new year models came out. Some times we would leave in one care and come home in a new car. Today the cars look the same from year to year.

I could describe any chevy or ford from about 1927 through 1959. I could come close on chrysler products.

Better looking back then but power? I remember bracket racing at New England drag as a teen and could never have imagined a modern muscle car like the Hellcat!

Yeh, my Pontiacs were a '61 Catalina, a '60 Bonneville, each weighed about 5000 lbs '67 Grand Prix.....another 5000 lbs, then a friend had one that was a convertible....only GP vert ever made was in '67......then I cut some lbs off with a '72 Lemans, working on that car, met the kids mom who was walking her dawg......3/4 ton Chevy van was her car...we went camping with it quite often 35 gallon gas tank, and I added another ~25 gallon under the side doors.....towed our boat to a Martha's Vinyard one summer for a week stay at campground......never stopped for gas.....from Wash DC region.....after that it was econo boxes......only interesting one was a turbo Colt......

I had so many cool rides back then but no money to fix them up right. My favorite was a 65 GTO, 389 with a Muncie 4sp. Tried to smoke the tires in front of the high school and the rear end fell out! Drive shaft was sticking out the side, so embarrassing...

Sad that GM killed Pontiac. They produced the cars I liked best in the GM family and seemed willing to push the muscle car, performance envelope like Mopar. I do like the 6th gen Camaros though.

Takes me back to the good times with dad. He helped me with my '65 Pony Mustang and '70 440 Challenger SE with small rear window. Wish I had those two in my garage today.

Of course there's good reason to have efficient, aerodynamic etc cars as technology has advanced. Let's not forget this "new-fangled" tech also brought us fuel injection, advanced transmissions, computers that can control timing so we can use cams with mega lift/duration etc.

But, it's still fun to share the classic cars with them as part of history if nothing else.

Our kids love going for ice cream runs in the goat. Also spent time showing them how the engine works by pulling the original 400 BB apart in front of them.

In the 60s the nearest drag strip to me had a billboard touting drag racing as "The fastest 8 seconds in sports" and now we have street registered (legal?) cars 2 seconds faster than the fuel cars were then.
And my 4 banger 2019 RDX AWD SUV is 1/10 faster in the quarter than a 94 Mustang GT (94 Z28 was 8/10 fast than the GT BTW).

My adult son (40) and his buddy were amazed when we went to the Barrett-Jackson auction in Conn. Being I was big in street racing in the 60s -mid 70s and worked part time at my buddies speed shop/ garage they picked my brain for info on a lot of the cars there. Said I was like a tour guide.

I remember my dad calling out different cars and he would teach me what to look for. Now, I can be looking right at a car and not know what the hell it is. A girl I work with drove this to work. It had the grille bar and logo removed and I glanced out the window and thought it was a Mustang.

Pontiac used to build excitement. The last decade of their existence, they didn't product exciting cars. And before you say 04-06 GTO, that was built by Holden in Australia. The Holden Maloo that Pontiac was going to rebadge and import would have brought some excitement back to the brand. Too bad they had to kill Pontiac when they did.
