So I'm out for a putt this afternoon on my Softail. I was cruising on some county roads, minding my own damn business when I came up on a group of riders. Three guys with their wives/girlfriends, and two women riding their own sleds. Five bikes, and me.

Two of the wives had flip-flops on, one was in sneakers. The two solo riders were decked in the latest HD fashion. (One had a sharp yellow Dyna.) The three guys were head to toe HD gear. One dude had an MVP patch that you get from the dealer when you buy a new sled, (I know, 'cause I got one myself) right dead center of his vest. Patch holder?!?!

Anyway, they were really pouring the coals to these bikes. I don't think ANY of them ever broke 50MPH. I was getting a little impatient, looking for a spot to pass them. Every time I got in a passing zone I had oncoming traffic. (I don't mind cautious riding. If your fairly new, or uncomfortable for some reason, thats cool)

Finally the road opened up to two lanes and I thought this was my chance to pass them without roaring by like a douche. As luck would have it, the two lane thing was WAY to short, and I ended up merging with the group. Now, I'm caught in the middle. No big deal, right? Enjoy the ride. I can see yellow Dyna girl waving her arms behind me, shaking her head. I'm wondering what has missy so amped up? At the stop sign I found out,,,,

Yellow Dyna girl proceeds to tell me over the sound or six idling bikes, "This is OUR group. Pull ahead of us! You can't ride with us, WE DONT KNOW YOU" Huh? Your group? She acted like I crashed her house party, drank all her beer, and tried to bang her daughter.

Yellow Dyna girl, if you're reading this, your fat and rude.

I've been riding solo and come upon a group...fell in and rode with for a while from the rear...passed when I wanted to or could...no biggie.

no biker is gonna break into a group unless traffic makes it necessary.

I don't ride with groups... it's too conformist when one of the points of riding, IMO, is to be nonconformist...

Typically, it's just me and maybe two other riders. I don't like the group deal either. Also, I know how my friends ride, and that makes a big diff.

I ride with a group of guys...4 or 5. sometimes there are only 2 or 3 of us...sometimes more.

I enjoy the comradely. we have ridden together for about 10 years, and we know each others moves on the road. this makes it safe & fun. Our 1600 mile ride to the Smokies was memorable.

we have only one rule in our small group: no wives on the ride.

we can all get together w/ the ladies around a pool, a BBQ grill or a pizza later...but we ride with no wives.

99% of them are in fact douches. Thomas even said it himself.

I got caught in a group (huge group!) of cruisers a while back...the whole time I kept thinking I hope these guys are just businessmen and not Hell's Angels...I ended up 2nd or 3rd in their long line trying to catch up with my group when I got separated...luckily it all worked out and I got around their lead guy and safely on my way.

I was speaking of wives as passangers. none of my buds have wives who ride their own bikes...so it works out ok

These were obviously weekend Starbucks riders. Head to toe HD gear, putting on a hard 20 miles before the next coffee break.

I have never been scolded before while out on my bike. I laughed the rest of the afternoon.

I took my bride out for a fun Sunday cruise on my Yamaha, got stuck behind a group of [POORLY TUNED LOUD MOTORCYCLES THAT SOUNDED AND SMELLED LIKE OLD LAWNMOWERS] and we actually had to fall back because my eyes were watering and I didn't want to smell like a 1940's gas station attendant.
