So 5 hours and 2 trips to Microcenter later my upgrade is (almost) complete.

I say almost because there is one power connector on the new motherboard which has no corresponding cable from the power supply: ATX_12V_2X2 WTF?

I haven't seen a 4-pin molex CPU power connector like this since the Pentium 4 days. Apparently Corsair hasn't either because my very nice RM 750x power supply does not have this kind of connector on any of the power cables. Although I managed to make it back to Microcenter before they closed, the ****ers didn't have an adapter cable. So I ordered one from Amazon which will be here Monday.

In the meantime, the PC still powers up and runs OK despite the missing power cable. Go figure...

It's an optional connection, you don't need it.

If you overclock it to the point you actually do need that additional 300w connection point, you'll need more than a 750w PSU.
A 1000+w PSU will typically have two (splittable) 8 pin CPU connectors to fit this need. Yours doesn't have it, because it can't provide the power for it.
