Scared the crap out of me but we aren't raised here with guns on the mind.

To me guns are like religion, if it helps you move forward in life, all the power to you. Just don't preach or put down others that don't follow what you believe.

That's about all you will ever hear from me about guns.

Yeah, I had a guy hold a .357 to my forehead, raise the gun up about five degrees, and fire one off right over my head. He wanted me to leave his property. I was helping a co-worker get some things out of her home, they were going through a divorce. This guy committed suicide about a month later, presumably with that same .357.

So Here's the Deal; I carry a weapon (because)...
don't get fooled into believing that a person needs to "justify" owning/carrying a gun.

F*ck that; the only justification needed is... "it's America, and I have the right to".

that's why I bought a gun in the first place. The events described here just affirm my decision.

I am grateful to say i have never been in that position, so while i will never fully understand how awful that must have felt i can certainly respect your decision. You make a valid point.

I had an almost exact situation but it was a shotgun.

I was very young and lived in a state where there were no carry laws, etc.

Fortunately I was with my boss who disarmed the drunken idiot and gave rewarded him with a few fist taps to the jaw.

Good thing you weren't in Texas, he probably could have legally killed you there.
