Ive been with the VA for about 10 years now. Ive had the same Dr's and same team since I started. The VA just did my open heart surgery/bypass. They even accommodated me when I asked to transfer to Nashville for the surgery to be near family. The Dr that did the surgery also does heart transplants so Id say he was pretty well qualified.

Im at 70% but going next month for a review due to my surgery. Hoping to get up to 100%.

I've been with the V.A for over 50 years. Back then they sucked at the one i went to. But the one i've been going to for the last 25 years is excellent.

I just got back from the Biloxi VA. Had to get my 6 month shot in my right knee. Damn needle is about 3 inches long. Doesnt really hurt much but the pressure of that gel being injected between bones is really weird feeling. Ive been getting these shots for about 2 years now and it really does work. Im trying to avoid another knee replacement.

I did that for about 5 years,(Euflexxa) but as the doc told me after a while you will need surgery. He was right, good luck!-

I guess I'll chime in here again.

A few years ago, the local VA had I guess would be similar to a Town Hall thing at the Vet Center. The Director along with some Department Heads.

There was alot of trivial crap brough up but one area came to light. I never knew about it or needed to but is now nice to know. it happened to a guy in the audience and was explained by the Director.

Each VA Center has their own network. A vet may think he can live in Florida, then go visit Dog in California and while there has something come up and head to the VA with no problem.

Not going to happen as easy as you may think. They have no clue who you are whether you have a VA card or not, You are not in their system and verification needs to be made and this can take a while through another system.

One other area is Community Care. This is where the VA is overbooked and they sub out to the locals such as Eye Exams, Hearing or whatever. I have used this many times.

Most recently was last fall for my Elbow Surgery which was done at University of New Mexico Hospital. In addition to this is if I go on a trip somewhere and somethings happens and no VA around. Just get the information to the Community care at your specific VA and they'll take care of it.

I keep a VA Community Care Card in my Wallet. Even if it is local and you get in a wreck and you end up in some hospital in town.

When I had my heart bypass surgery a few months ago, I asked the Biloxi VA if I could have it done in Nashville so I could stay with family. They never even blinked an eye. It was all taken care of in just about a week or two. Im really going to miss my Biloxi VA if and when I move back to Tennessee..

He's already asked me to let the hair grow back so he can rub the blonde hairs down when I get out the pool....I just ignore him....he's a little funny that way...
