Yet Trump was grilled about supposedly lying about his anti-war stance on Iraq, his "birtherism" (which started with Hillary's people), his supposed maltreatment of women, and his taxes.

Trump had to bring these things up himself while fighting off a two-on-one full-on attack. Him interrupting the lying psychopath was the most satisfying part of the entire evening.

Also at the end of the debate, a "cleaner" walked over to Hillary's podium, grabbed her notes while Trump and Hillary were sorta shaking hands, and apparently handed her notes to Holt. Just WTF was that? I guess so that nobody could see that she had all the questions he was going to ask, and the order they were in, right there in front of her along with prepared responses. Nah, democrat operatives with bylines would never do that.
It did seem to be a 2 on one debate. The grabbing of the notes was suspect, but I didn't see a handoff actually occur. There were at least two more snippets of that guy still holding the folder after he passed Holt.

Interesting that the notes had to be promptly whisked away to safety, though. The Donald didn't seem to take the same care with his notes.

I agree with your assessment, still, I find it amusing that her debate notes merit more security than the classified information that passed through her hands while SoS.

Wouldn't it be great if those notes were leaked to the public? Did she have the questions in advance?

He made a beeline for Lester, but sure the camera cut away before you could see anything happen. At any rate her notes got grabbed right up didn't they? This "cleaner" also made a beeline for Lester, having to cross the entire stage to do so when simply walking off to the right of the stage would have been more expedient. Very weird.

He's made it closer than I would have expected; but close isn't win.

If he were running against Biden it wouldn't be close; if she were running against Kasich, Walker or Rubio, it wouldn't be close either.

Walker couldn't even make it past the first debate. Kasich only won a single state. Rubio was a complete mess. I have no idea where you get the idea that a typical GOPe stooge would have had a chance in hell this election cycle. Because they certainly stood no chance. One more McCain/Romney candidate and most voters would have just tapped out.

You keep saying this but the candidate with the most votes in Republican primary history is running against her, the entire establishment, Wall Street, the Chamber of Commerce, the entire media, and has a great chance of winning. You think he's a terrible candidate. Normal people see him as a person willing to fight against these forces, which have been running our country into the ditch.

Normal people see him as someone with no frame of reference for the position he's running for; he doesn't know what he doesn't know, and worse, he doesn't seem to want to know.

All that said, as poor a choice as she is, he might win. I don't think he will, but it's certainly possible.

Normal people think that a guy with 45 years of executive business experience has a frame of reference that exceeds someone who was a community organizer and part-time single-term senator. We were told in 2008 that just running a successful primary campaign qualifies you for the POTUS, it shows great management skills or something. They also see a guy willing to fight. Something a Republican candidate hasn't done worth spit in so many years it's disheartening. They see Hillary last night call him crazy, racist, and sexist. He called her Secretary Clinton.

Normal people actually have read his detailed policy positions, and realize that even if a smidgen of his policies get enacted we'll be light-years ahead of where Hillary will land us. They realize the media has been portraying him roughly 180 degrees from reality. They realize that the same bullshit you're saying now was said about Reagan in 1980. Practically verbatim.

Reagan was dangerous and didn't have the temperment to have his finger on THE BUTTON.

Reagan also got the USSR to Tear. Down. This. Wall.
....and Reagan got them to pay for it, too.

-Forty-five years in one industry does not qualify you for the highest political position in the country; you wouldn't hire a fireman to represent you in court, no matter how good a fireman, or how good a person he is.

-No normal person thought a community organizer turned junior Senator would make a good President, but he got elected anyway; doesn't say much for the voters does it?

-What's he going to fight against? The entire legislature, and he's going to lose; none of the Dems, and most of the Reps will oppose him.

-Holy crap, now you're upset about name calling?

-I have read what's on his website, and it's not what should be called detailed policy positions. I've even gone back several times to see if I'm missing something, the detail isn't there, it's not at all well thought out, it's just enough to get people to think he must know what he's doing.

-I don't need the media to tell me what I've seen and heard; of course there's bias, but he's been out there enough that you can form you're own opinion, and hell, Fox News has been very friendly to him; you think Hannity and O'Rielly are doing hatchet jobs?

-Reagan was a very different situation. He was a proven success in government. And the elections weren't even close.

Craig, you post plenty of valid points. I'm just one guy but I think many others have locked onto Trump for one reason. He's saying things I want to hear. After years and years of both the Dems and Pubs making a mess of the country, a voice from outside has been heard. Trump is far from a perfect candidate. Among many things he lacks polish. But I'm tired of all the polished DC folks. Will Trump be met with push back? Hell yea, the ole boy network does not want to give up their gravy train. But I only have one question, how much worse can Trump do? Currently, the country is $20T in debt, we're suffering terrorist attacks in cities across the nation, and social/racial unrest is festering. Meanwhile, the politicians are making corrupt deals to keep each other from being indicted. To continue on this track by electing the same type of people is madness.
