Know a million-plus people who move to FL every two years for the warmth and sunshine, and many, probably not most, are still of working-age.

And they need to go back up north. FL is full. Our weather is horrible (hurricanes), love bug season is almost upon us, gators everywhere, blue hairs down south making the roads dangerous, humidity, Floridaman, never ending highway construction, stand your ground law and castle doctrine, red state, etc... it's not fit for anyone from north of Brunswick, GA.

California was a red state up until 1990. We've still have more Republican Governors than Dems. California got saturated by Liberals that came out here for the weather, scenery, jobs, and money. The difference is i don't run away because the Liberals can't keep me from enjoying the weather and scenery or go snow skiing and hour away and the same day go sailing 10 minutes away.

LOL, we didn't "run away," the move to FL had been in the works for many years. Kids and grandkids were nowhere close and nothing was holding us there, the state turning hard left along with huge tax increases just accelerated it a bit. The timing was perfect for selling a house there and buying here. Airplanes go everywhere so when we need a mountain or skiing fix we do it. Meanwhile we walked the beach yesterday evening to our favorite bar on the sand for drinks and boiled shrimp - in shorts and t-shirts. We don't miss living in CO at all.

We used to do that kind of thing regularly. But anymore we can't stand the crowds.

I'd say 20 of our 30+ years on the beach were good. the 1st 10 years were stellar. Beaches, Bars, Boats & Ballads...

A great lifestyle back then. We don't miss it for a minute.

I remember it differently. That was shortly after AIDS was discovered and homosexuality began to be normalized by Hollywood. I will agree that California is a GREAT STATE.
Great conservatives, great mountains, great coastline, great wineries, great golf course--maybe the best anywhere, great restaurants, great landscapes, great industry, great commerce, HOT LADIES, etc...

The only problem with California are the socialists, if you got rid of all of them, or even half, I would put it in a tie with FL.

I always preferred hot weather over cold weather. As I get older, I'm less tolerant of extremes. I have no need to prove I'm a tough guy who can 'take it', so I go where it is comfortable. Both of my parents were midwest transplants who hated the cold weather and ice and snow. When I go back during the holidays to visit extended family, there is a whole, alien, added-life-experience- the mud room, and the transition time and effort from outside to inside. No thank you.

Agreed with all of that. People are voting with their feet. In 2022 CA lost over 300k residents, while FL gained over 300k. CA is the state losing the most residents while FL is gaining the most. I just hope the people from CA and NY coming here leave their idiotic politics behind.

We’d get a weld set up on some pipe rollers, set up a section of scaffolding, wrap it in Visqueen then preheat the ever living shit out of it.

CA is losing 'makers' like Elon Musk and the founder of Google, and taking on 'takers' like the millions of illegals in the past 2 years to replace them.

CA will become one huge Detroit or Baltimore if the one-party politics continue.

Many of my friends who were native here now live in NV, AZ, TX and TN. All of them moved away after they retired and were in their early 60's.

California is the only place I've seen an interstate border check point. If they can get away with doing that there must not be a reason other states can't also.

My house has gone up over 275k in six years, bad investment.
If you didn't get a better education or make more money then it would be a problem, Somehow 40 million people can live here. If you can't you get a home in the south for 350k or less or live in the Midwest.
