Somebody I know (ultra liberal) said "the 'undocumented citizens' can help with our labor shortage. They can work at fast food, retail, things like that".

My reply?

"So when you go to pay at Walmart, and the cashier is from Central America and doesn't speak English...how does that work exactly?

How will Walmart employ somebody responsible for safeguarding millions of dollars of their merchandise at a store, who is from Central America, when no background check can be completed? After all, background checks from Central America either aren't available or are very incomplete.

How will they work at Burger King in the drive thru line if they don't speak English? Will they have a translator button at the drive thru window?

How will they work at a pharmacy--which is in desperate need of employees--without background checks?"

It's an honest question. What jobs are these illegal aliens going to do? Other than some miscellaneous property services (lawn care, snow plowing, landscaping) and construction...what other occupations can they realistically do with no background checks available and many of them not speaking fluent English?

I respectfully disagree. So long as the only crime they committed was violating immigration law, they need to be treated with dignity and deported in a safe/humane manner.

We seem to forget that America was built on a nation of immigrants. How many here are descendants of people from another country? Likely 99%.
We still have many immigrants from other nations every day but not as many from Europe as they have better lives in there counties than say Mexico. Those people are just looking for a better life just like our ancestors were. They do the jobs that our lazy population won’t do.

And there are no jobs for 90% of these illegal aliens. Most don't speak fluent English, you can't run reliable background checks on them for jobs in retail or fast food, etc.

But how do we prioritize a poor and uneducated person from Central America that can't speak English over immigrants from India or Asia that are educated and may be able to support themselves financially?

Or do we just allow all immigrants in...in unlimited numbers?
