I loved the smell of that stuff. You could blow an aneurism if it was an old tube. I have ZERO doubt any concentration issues I had in school were the result of this, model glue, and spray paint. I built models from about age 6 to age 25 or so.

Estes rockets, chemistry sets, wood burning kits and jarts good times. Now kids are safely sitting on their ass texting the person next to them. Every generation gets weaker I hate to see where this is going.

Not sure what that stuff is, I'm prolly too old.
But we used to chew on lead pellets for pellet guns and I'm still alive. |

At Boy Scout camp some of us went down to a quicksand spot on the edge of a swamp and walked around on floating clumps of moss. Interesting how the stuff bounced up and down as it was walked on. We wanted to see how deep it was and stuck a 20 foot long dead tree down in it. Apparently bottomless.

For many years I used to soak a white cotton glove in acetone and run 35mm and 16mm optical negatives through it to clean before sending it into the lab for a check print.

Trich was the best cleaner/degreaser ever. I had a bottle of that stuff in the eighties.
Next best was RC electric motor cleaner in the 80's. Some volatile stuff. We would get it in liquid form, and since it was non-conductive, we would dip the motor cans in a jar of the stuff and run them. The armatures and rotor would come out sparkling clean, and there would always be a pile of carbon in the bottom of the jar. |
