We can't stop the aging process, but we can do quite a bit to slow the decay. Highly recommended reading: Younger Next Year, by Chris Crowley and Henry Lodge, MD.

Live well,

That's the part of it that bothers me the most.

My granddad frequently said to me, up until right before he died, "It all went by so fast." When someone who's 102 years old says this to you, it should make you stop and think. I have, and he was right. It does go by very quickly, and does so while we're busy paying attention to everything else.

As has been said, inside of every old person is a young person who looks in a mirror one day and says, "WTF happened?"

Live well,

That's why hobbies are so great, nearly essential - like our car hobby....it can extend the perception of time; its called "subjective time dilation" and occurs during intense focus on a task... I have a relative, 75 years old parked in his Lazyboy and watches MSNBC news repeat itself for hour after hour. Pitiful.

The brain records time based on the intensity and frequency of memories and tasks stored..

I just took up the piano at age 72.

This is an excellent, accurate summary of my own life experience and of every older person I've ever known. Bar none.
Well stated, Sir, and folks-----have as much fun as you can in this world!!
Today I thought of DUB while I ran errands in my '61 Corvette. Every little bit counts.

Not long ago, I read a transcript of an interview with Danny Hutton (one of the original members of the band, Three Dog Night). Something he said during that interview resonated, and it has stuck with me. So much so that I printed it out, and attached it to the bottom edge of my computer monitor, so it's right in front of me every day:

"Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think."

Live well,

I think most of us know people who just sit and rot in front of the television for decades. It's a slow-motion death sentence.

It's so important to remain active, both physically and mentally, and it can really retard the decay that will otherwise set in as the years get behind us.

Exercise is crucial, positive social interaction is beneficial, hobbies are great, and learning new skills is an excellent thing to do. Good on ya, Frank.

Now I've gotta go look up "subjective time dilation!"

Live well,

SJW

Wow! MSNBC all day long. Why drag out a tortuous death. Just do me a favor and shoot me now.

Take care,
Steve

I hadn't been on the CF for much because of getting hammered by a few people. I can't believe DUB is gone! I enjoyed his posts and he helped me out a lot on projects. I never went to his shop but I think it was near Charlotte, NC
